Château Petrus

Mrs Loubat inherited the vineyard in 1920 and was jointly owned by the renowned wine merchant Jean-Pierre Moueix and Lily-Paul Lacoste Loubat, heiress and niece of Madame Loubat, until 2014

The vineyard, strategically located at the highest point of the appellation, is situated 40 metres above sea level clad with a layer of heavy soil and iron subsoil. This is well-accompanied with intense viticulture practices to ripen the fruit perfectly. Definitely manually harvested, the grapes are well sorted before crush and fermentation is carried out gently in temperature controlled concrete tanks. The young wine, very often  is then aged in 100% new oaked

The Merlot demands such ideal conditions for a full expression of its variety and the both viticulture and viniculture practices have satisfied them. Hence, displaying an intense colour with a rich and complex nose accompanied with opulent fruits. In superb vintages, the wine can easily age over the next 25 years or more.
